Will a HydraFacial Help with Acne to Give Me Clearer Skin?

The popularity of HydraFacials is skyrocketing. In fact, according to Allure, there’s one performed every 15 seconds. It’s been emphatically described as the best facial on the market for clean, glowing skin, but will a HydraFacial help with acne?

Acne – What’s the Real Deal Behind Constant Breakouts?

Acne isn’t just a bad case of pimples, and it’s not limited to the teenage population. It can be incredibly painful, cause scarring, and have lasting effects on a person’s confidence.

Causes of acne include the build-up of dead skin cells, bacteria, inflammation, and excess oil called sebum. Unfortunately, things that are out of our control like stress, hormones, and medications can cause acne to worsen.

Is a HydraFacial Safe for People with Acne?

This is a pretty common question considering that many other facial treatments, such as microdermabrasion, can spread bacteria. HydraFacials are completely safe for people with acne, sensitive skin, or even eczema.

Unlike other options on the market, HydraFacial patients don’t experience irritation, swelling, or redness from the treatment.

How Will a HydraFacial Help with Acne?

HydraFacial uses a multi-step process to clean and rejuvenate skin. It starts with a tool used to exfoliate dead skin cells. Once the skin has been exfoliated, a gentle peel is applied. Then, using water filled with oxygen and vitamins, pores are gently unclogged. This part of the process has a bonus – it helps to smooth scars left behind by old blemishes! Last but not least, your skin is pampered with peptides, antioxidants, and serums.

So, will a HydraFacial help with acne? Yes, absolutely! If you’re tired of spending hours each week applying creams, ointments, and cleansers with less than stellar results give our team a call at 202-965-7546 to book your HydraFacial today. It’s time to take back control over your appearance and get the glowing, acne-free skin you want and deserve!

We’re all unique. So, each person’s skin care routine might look different. If your skin care routine isn’t delivering glowing results, it’s time to make some changes, as finding the right skin care routine is life changing! How can you find a routine that nourishes your uniqueness?

Choose the Right Care for Your Skin Type

Choosing products that work best for your skin type are key to healthy skin. Is your skin oily, dry, combination? Knowing this detail helps you choose the right products for your unique skin. If you have sensitive skin, it’s even more important to carefully select products, so you won’t be left with redness or breakouts. Talk to your dermatologist about your sensitive skin and get help creating a customized skincare routine.

Your Environment Matters

Where you live can have a big impact on your skin. Do you live in a cold climate? Dry climate? Damp climate? Take these factors into account when coming up with a new skin care routine. Work with a dermatologist or skin care specialist to find out how you can care for your skin in your area.

Always Include Sun Protection When Finding the Right Skin Care Routine

Sun damage is the leading threat to healthy skin. Use a high-quality sunscreen to protect your skin each day from dangerous UV rays. Not only will you avoid burns and sun damages. but your skin stays younger longer if you keep it well protected.

Find The Right Cleanser

Again, your unique skin issues need to be taken into account when choosing a cleanser. And it’s an important step in your skin care routine. Talk to a dermatologist or skin care specialist if you need help, because different products are made for your unique issues.

Use a Toner

Washing removes oils from the skin, so using a toner helps bring it all back to balance. Again though, you need the right toner for your skin type. Choose carefully, so you don’t leave your skin too oily or too dry.

If you’re ready to see the dramatic difference finding the right skin care routine can make, talk to your dermatologist or skin care specialist to create a plan just right for you. Get glowing skin this year!

Over the past several years, it’s become increasingly evident that men, just like woman, want to look and feel their best.

Not only that, they are turning to non-invasive cosmetic treatments to make subtle changes to their facial structure.

Dermal filler for men offers guys an ideal solution to a soft jawline or weak chin, without the invasiveness of surgery or the commitment of implants.

It also provides natural-looking results that can be dissolved or gradually broken down in the event that a patient is not happy with the outcome.

Continue reading to learn why filler for men is on the rise and the most-requested enhancements among male patients.

Why Is Filler for Men on the Rise?

More and more guys are seeking filler for men in order to combat signs of aging and improve their facial contours.

In fact, dermatologists and plastic surgeons report a noticeable uptick in male patients requesting injectable treatment to look more masculine and similar to classically-handsome celebrities like Brad Pitt and male models.

Why Kind of Enhancements Are Men Seeking?

For many guys, fillers offer a safe, effective, and nonsurgical way to achieve defined cheeks, chiseled chin, and square jawline.

Patients are also undergoing filler for men to improve facial symmetry and create a more balanced and structured appearance.

What Fillers Can be Used to Create Desired Effects?

In order to subtly enhance and lift cheeks, a viscous hyaluronic acid filler like Juvederm Voluma or Restylane Lyft may be administered medially and laterally.

Juvederm Vollure and Restylane Defyne are flexible injectable products that smooth nasolabial folds, while maintaining natural facial movement and expressions.

Finally, to get that chiseled, square jawline, many guys are turning to collagen-stimulating dermal fillers like Sculptra and Radiesse.

Most individuals would like to enhance their appearance with the help of a dermatologist, but are unsure which treatment will allow them to achieve their goals.

Some patients are hesitant to undergo a surgical procedure, like a facelift, that requires anesthesia, recovery, and incisions. While others have tried more conservative approaches, such as creams, peels, or microdermabrasion, and were unimpressed with their results.

Fortunately, Fraxel can dramatically improve skin quality and rejuvenate the face without the downtime or risks surgery. In fact, this cosmetic treatment can target wrinkles, age spots, melasma, actinic keratosis, skin tone and texture, and scars.

What Is Fraxel?

Fraxel is a non-ablative laser that creates microinjuries in the skin’s surface. This thermal damage initiates a wound healing effect and stimulates the production of collagen and elastin.

How Can Fraxel Treat a Variety of Skin Conditions?

Fraxel operates at two wavelengths, 1550 nm and 1927 nm, and can precisely focus light-based energy on different layers of the skin. Depth of penetration can be adjusted to target specific concerns and customize the treatment to each patient and his or her goals.

Which Skin Concerns Can Fraxel Improve?

Wrinkles – Collagen and elastin production decline with age and cause sagging, wrinkles, and fine lines. Fraxel can restore these elements to smooth and lift the skin.

Age Spots – Age spots are a sign of photodamage and present as flat, uneven dark patches that appear on the face, neck, chest, hands, and arms. They occur from exposure to the sun’s harmful ultraviolet rays and an overproduction of melanin.

Melasma – Women that experience melasma often have patches of hyperpigmentation on their forehead, cheeks, upper lip, and nose. It’s caused by hormonal fluctuations related to pregnancy and oral contraceptives.

Actinic keratosis – These pre-cancerous lesions are usually crusty or scaly and are most common in patients with fair complexions. They can be treated with ointments, freezing, and surgical excision, but Fraxel offers a safer and more effective alternative.

Skin resurfacing – Environmental factors such as sun exposure, stress, pollution, and smoke can wreak havoc on skin tone, texture, and tightness. Fraxel is FDA-approved to resurface skin from the inside out for a more radiant, even, and firmer appearance.

Acne and surgical scars – When the skin tries to repair itself after a breakout or surgical incision, it can produce scars that are indented, raised, red, and wavy.

A series of three-to-five Fraxel treatments can significantly reduce these irregularities and help individuals look and feel their best.

For more information about Fraxel, please call our office today to schedule a consultation.

New Hyaluronic Acid Filler Promises Next to No Swelling https://cosmeticskininstitute.net/new-hyaluronic-acid-filler/ https://cosmeticskininstitute.net/new-hyaluronic-acid-filler/#respond Wed, 25 Sep 2019 18:46:08 +0000 https://cosmeticskininstitute.net/?p=5343 Hyaluronic acid is one of the most commonly used and versatile solutions for dermal fillers.

]]>
Hyaluronic acid is one of the most commonly used and versatile solutions for dermal fillers. In fact, Juvederm and Restylane each boast an entire product line of various hyaluronic acid fillers that have different indications for use and benefits.

While these dermal fillers provide safe and effective volume restoration, lifting, and cosmetic enhancement, a new hyaluronic acid injectable, Revanesse Versa, promises next to no swelling post-procedure.

So, can this dermal filler compete with tried and true hyaluronic acid compositions? Here’s what you need to know.

What Are Dermal Fillers?

Dermal fillers are a popular anti-aging treatment that can correct moderate to severe wrinkles and folds, fill cheek and under eye hollows, augment facial features, rejuvenate hands, and improve facial fullness.

What Is Hyaluronic Acid?

Hyaluronic acid is a sugar that naturally occurs in the body and is considered a hydrophilic substance. This means that it can easily attract and hold water and provide plumping when injected into soft tissues.

It can also be readily metabolized by the body over the course of 6-18 months to provide temporary, yet long-lasting results.

How Is Revanesse Versa Different Than Other Hyaluronic Acid Fillers?

While hyaluronic acid fillers have little to no recovery, patients can experience varying degrees of swelling that may require a couple of days of social downtime. This factor may be considered when scheduling filler appointments around work commitments, special occasions, and events.

Revanesse Versa is a hyaluronic acid filler that promises similar results as other injectables, but less post-procedure swelling and downtime. Its manufacturers credit a highly-controlled wet milling technology for producing hyaluronic acid particles that are more uniform in shape and size.

This smoother composition is key to reducing edema after the filler is injected into the treatment area.

How Does Revanesse Versa Produce Less Post-Injection Swelling?

After being pressed through a series of screens, each Revanesse Versa hyaluronic acid gel suspension undergoes thorough testing for the highest level of quality control.

It’s also manufactured in small batches for product freshness and has gained FDA-approval for the correction of moderate to severe facial lines and wrinkles.

Plus, it lasts as long as other hyaluronic acid fillers, approximately six-to-nine months, and after one million treatments has not had any reported cases of granulomas or nodules.

To learn more about Revanesse Versa and hyaluronic acid injectables, please call our office today to schedule a consultation.

Wrinkles, fine lines, and volume loss are well-known signs of aging. We often try to counteract these effects with a healthy lifestyle, products, and treatments.

However, many women and men are less attentive to a key component of healthy and fresh skin – hydration.

While a majority of patients incorporate a daily moisturizer into their skincare routine, skin can still become dry, brittle, red, and cracked. All of these issues can make skin prone to infection and add years to an individual’s appearance.

Fortunately, HydraFacial is a non-invasive procedure that focuses on nourishing dry skin and infusing it with hydrating serums, antioxidants, and peptides.

Here’s how you can replenish your skin’s moisture with HydraFacial.

How Does Hydrafacial Boost Skin’s Moisture?

Even when patients apply moisturizers, serums, or other skincare products, dead skin cells and other build-up can make absorption of these products difficult.

For this reason, HydraFacial uses a patented Vortex technology, a unique tip, and fortified water to prime skin before attempting to rehydrate it.

More specifically, HydraFacial is a multi-step process that cleanses away impurities, exfoliates skin debris and dead skin cells, extracts congestion from clogged pores, and finally uses it vortex infusion capabilities to fully restore moisture to the skin.

Will HydraFacial irritate dry skin or eczema?

Unlike microdermabrasion, which can further irritate dry or dehydrated skin, or chemical peels, which can cause inflammation and peeling, HydraFacial is gentle enough to treat dehydrated skin, sensitive skin, and other skin conditions.

Can Hydrafacial Be Customized for Patients With Dry Skin?

In addition to being a very soothing and refreshing treatment, HydraFacial is also highly customizable.

Therefore, once dead skin cells have been removed and the skin has been rehydrated, patients can be treated with LED light therapy. This procedure add-on diffuses redness and stimulates production of collage and elastin.

When Will Skin Appear More Hydrated and Refreshed?

One of the key benefits of HydraFacial is that it provides instant results – skin will be softer, smoother, and more hydrated after your treatment.

These benefits can be maintained and enhanced by adding hyaluronic acid, peptides, and other nourishing serums to your regular skincare routine.

Additionally, a series of six sessions spaced one month apart can provide optimal and long-lasting results.

To learn more about achieving healthy and hydrated skin with HydraFacial in the Northern Virginia area, please call our office today to schedule a consultation.

HydraFacial is a multi-tasking skincare treatment that is high on results without irritation, redness, or downtime.

In fact, many aesthetic experts believe that this procedure is so gentle that they often recommend it for patients with sensitive skin.

Best of all, HydraFacial provides the benefits of three procedures – microdermabrasion, chemical peel, and hydrating facial – all in one 30-60-minute session.

So, what else can HydraFacial do to improve the quality of your skin? Here’s what you need to know about the benefits of this revolutionary treatment.

What Is Hydrafacial?

HydraFacial is a non-invasive procedure that uses a patented Vortex Technology to cleanse away impurities, exfoliate the outermost layer of skin, extract blackheads, whiteheads, and excess sebum, and hydrate with a blend of antioxidants, peptides, and serums.

The treatment can also be paired with chemical peels, microcurrent, and LED Light Therapy for added anti-aging effects or improvement of acne and discoloration.

Who’s a Good Candidate for Hydrafacial?

Many women and men want smoother, brighter, and more supple skin, but cannot tolerate the irritation, redness, and abrasiveness of microdermabrasion, chemical peels, or traditional facials.

HydraFacial is an excellent alternative for these patients because it deep cleans and promotes cellular regeneration in one soothing and refreshing procedure.

It’s also safe for all skin types, and can even help patients with rosacea or other skin conditions.

What Are the Benefits of Hydrafacial?

Because HydraFacial is a multi-step process, it’s able to simultaneously correct a variety of aesthetic concerns.

Patients often seek HydraFacial for treatment of: Blackheads and whiteheads; Wrinkles, fine lines, and dehydrated (very dry) skin; Uneven skin tone, hyper-pigmentation, sun damage, and brown spots; Enlarged pores, congested pores, acne or oily-prone skin.

Is There Any Downtime With Hydrafacial?

HydraFacial is non-irritating and does not cause the redness, inflammation, and swelling that are common with other skincare treatments. It does not require any downtime, and patients can resume usual activities immediately after a session.

When Do Hydrafacial Results Become Visible?

HydraFacial diminishes the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines, reduces puffiness, and reveals softer, hydrated, and radiant skin.

While many patients note these changes after their first treatment, a series of 6 sessions spaced a month apart is recommended for optimal effects.

To learn more about HydraFacial, please call our office today to schedule an appointment.

LONG BEACH, Calif., Dec. 6, 2018 /PRNewswire/ — The HydraFacial™ Company announced today an exciting new partnership with SENTÉ, an innovative specialty aesthetics company.

This partnership will offer HydraFacial clients and consumers the opportunity to experience SENTÉ’s patented Sulfated Glycosaminoglycan (SuGAG) analog technology clinically proven to deliver rapid skin rejuvenation.

Through the exciting new partnership, SENTÉ and HydraFacial are launching a new booster, SENTÉ Dermal Repair to medical providers. The SENTÉ booster can be added to HydraFacial treatments providing additional customization and targeted results for patients including increased superficial and deep hydration, minimizing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles and redness reduction.

“We are always happy to partner with brands that work synergistically with the HydraFacial treatment to provide the best possible experience for our partners and consumers,” said Clint Carnell, Chief Executive Officer of The HydraFacial Company. “Partnering with SENTÉ was a perfect fit because the treatment is innovative and provides proven skin improvements, just like HydraFacial. We know that our partners and consumers will love the SENTÉ booster and the benefits it will provide.”

“Most people associate hyaluronic acid with the term glycosaminoglycan (GAG) and although it’s commonly found in skin care because of its ability to attract water, there are other GAGs – specifically sulfated GAGs – that can offer more. Sulfated GAGs regulate many cell functions, and heparan sulfate, in particular, surrounds all cells and is essential to all living tissues. Sulfated GAGs control inflammation, increase hydration, regulate growth factors and protect the skin from compressive forces. With regular use of SENTÉ products, skin is rejuvenated, looks firmer, supple, smoother and more even-toned,” said Vivian Bucay, MD, a San Antonio based dermatologist. “It’s not just about making the skin appear more youthful, it’s also about skin wellness and health.”

“As a first for SENTÉ, this partnership will contribute to our overall strategy to further educate on the brand’s advanced Sulfated Glycosaminoglycan analog technology,” states Laurent Combredet, President and Chief Executive Officer of SENTÉ. “By partnering with a leading skin care company like HydraFacial, we are able to bring our unparalleled product formulations to a wider range of skin care users across the country.”

What Is Baby Botox? https://cosmeticskininstitute.net/what-is-baby-botox/ https://cosmeticskininstitute.net/what-is-baby-botox/#respond Mon, 12 Feb 2018 21:03:33 +0000 https://cosmeticskininstitute.net/?p=4910 Botox has always been an aesthetic industry staple when it comes to smoothing fine lines and wrinkles.

The post What Is Baby Botox? appeared first on Cosmetic Skin Institute | Skin Care in Washington DC, Olney, & Maryland.

]]>
Botox has always been an aesthetic industry staple when it comes to smoothing fine lines and wrinkles.

Most standard Botox treatments are done every four-to-six months and use approximately 25 units per area.

However, many younger and first-time patients are forgoing this standard treatment in favor of a more minimalist approach called “Baby Botox.

This type of treatment is quickly gaining popularity among patients that fear a frozen look and want a more natural appearance.

Here’s what you need to know about Baby Botox.

1. What Is Baby Botox?

Baby Botox is microinjections of a smaller amount of botulinum toxin A. These treatments are typically performed more frequently compared to the standard Botox treatment.

2. It’s a Highly Personalized Treatment

Patients that request Baby Botox often have very specific areas of concern. It requires a skilled injector to tailor the treatment to the patient’s needs and expectations.

The first treatment is usually done as conservatively as possible. Patients may return for additional injections in 2 weeks if they would like further relaxation of the targeted area.

3. Baby Botox Can Help Prevent Lines and Wrinkles

Starting these treatments at a younger age and lower dose is seen as proactive and preventative by many providers and patients.

Women and men in their 20s often have Baby Botox to weaken the facial muscles that can cause deeper wrinkles later on.

4. It Provides a More Natural Result, but Requires More Maintenance

The effects of Baby Botox are subtler because smaller doses are being administered over a longer period of time.

Therefore, patients avoid drastic changes and a frozen look, but have to go for injections more frequently than the standard four-to-six months.

Aesthetic physicians recommend monthly Baby Botox treatments for optimal results. If patients are unable to commit to this maintenance schedule, standard Botox may be a better option.

5. The Price of Baby Botox May Be Less Than Standard Botox

Patients may assume that Baby Botox is cheaper because a smaller amount of product is being used. However, some practices may factor in the time and skill-set of the injector when determining the price.

Meaning that a practitioner with expertise in microinjections may charge more than someone that only administers standard doses.

It is always best to confirm prices with the provider’s office prior to treatment.

If you are interested in learning more about Botox and other ways to reduce wrinkles, please call Cosmetic Skin Institute today to schedule an appointment.

Redness in the skin, much like the itchiness that sometimes accompanies it, can be an irritating thing.

Perhaps it doesn’t quite match with your makeup to give you the blush that you want–especially, if, well, the redness is due to acne or sunburning.

Here’s the question of the day, though. Can we fix it?

The Opposition

A large crowd of experts say no. By virtue of what the “redness” typically is if people want to cure it.

It’s called rosacea, and, under the radar, it affects 14 million Americans. That’s about 1 in 20, for the record.

It’s an inflammatory skin condition, which means it has to do with your body’s immune response to… basically, everything. From allergens to spicy foods, it’s a systemic physiological response by your body.

There’s medication to treat it, but the medication controls it. Not eliminates it. And if you don’t keep up your treatment, it’s going to come back fast.

But maybe there’s hope?

On the other side, we have experts that say rosacea is just one condition against the whole gauntlet of things that make your face red. That’s acne, sunburning, eczema- all things you can eliminate.

Besides basic skin care, and specific “anti-redness” products, there’s the entire industry of skin rejuvenation to save the day. That means microdermabrasion and “precision damage” via lasers.

So the real answer here is to figure out exactly what’s making your skin red. That might be a harder thing to figure out than you think. How many things make the sky blue?

Which means, as always, you should consult a medical professional.

Whether that be an experienced nurse practitioner or a specialist such as a dermatologist, information is the key to winning any battle. If you want to know how to say goodbye redness, call the Cosmetic Skin Institute today to schedule a complimentary consultation.
